Amber Stoesser is a researcher working on the Global Terrorism Database (GTD). She currently works with the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) and is pursuing her M.A. and PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of Maryland-College Park. Amber also received a fellowship from the Department of Homeland Security to continue her terrorism research.
Prior to her work the University of Maryland, Amber graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois with a BS in Psychology and a minor in French. Amber also studied at L’Université Paul Valéry in Montpellier, France where she received a certificate in French Language and Culture and she is in the process of learning Arabic. Currently, Amber’s research interests focus on terrorism in Francophone North Africa, France and Corsica.
